Nigeria Secures $396m for IDPs and Health Project, FEC Approves Funding

The Nigerian government has secured a total of $396 million in concessionary financing from international development partners to support humanitarian health infrastructure projects across the country. The Federal Executive Council, led by President Bola Tinubu, approved two separate credit facilities: $300 million from the World Bank for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and host communities in northern states, and $96 million from the African Development Bank and Islamic Development Bank for the Sokoto state health infrastructure project.

The funds will be used to rebuild communities affected by insecurity, strengthen healthcare delivery, and ensure sustainable external borrowing limits. Minister Wale Edun highlighted the significant economic improvements in Nigeria, including a 4.23% GDP growth in the second quarter of 2025.
