UNICEF Provides Free Healthcare to 15,000 Children in Sokoto, Nigeria

UNICEF provided free healthcare services to 15,000 vulnerable children in Sokoto State. The initiative, supported by UNICEF Country Representative for Nigeria, Ms.

Wafa Saeed, involved a collaboration with the state Ministry of Health and Sokoto State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency. UNICEF donated essential items like computer tablets, power banks, laptops, and mamakits to support safe childbirth and immunization.

Ms. Saeed praised Sokoto State's commitment to health and nutrition, highlighting the government's increased budget allocation for maternal and child welfare.

She emphasized the critical role of nutrition and immunization in early childhood development. UNICEF also pledged to match the state's Child Nutrition Fund commitment and commended the government's efforts in healthcare financing.
