Nigeria, Singapore Collaborate to Train TVET Instructors

Nigeria has partnered with Singapore to enhance the capacity of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) instructors through a training program organized by the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). The program, which runs from June 29 to July 10, involves two cohorts, with the first cohort consisting of 60 TVET teachers from federal and state institutions currently undergoing training in Abuja, while a second cohort of 60 teachers is scheduled to participate in Lagos.

Adebayo Onigbanjo, the Minister of Education, explained that the program is designed to equip Nigerian educators with modern pedagogical skills and assessment techniques. The initiative is part of the federal government's broader effort to reposition the TVET sector as a key driver of economic growth and job creation.

The training aims to enhance teaching methods, ultimately benefiting students and addressing the demand for skilled professionals in the labor market. The program is expected to create a multiplier effect through peer-to-peer training among instructors.
