Nigeria, UK Boost TVET Partnership for Youth Employment

Nigeria and the United Kingdom are expanding their partnership in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and digital skills to prepare Nigerian youth for global employment opportunities. This initiative was disclosed by Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, during a bilateral meeting with Baro Smith at the Education World Forum held in London.

The partnership aims to enhance technical vocational education through industry-driven apprenticeship programs as part of President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. Alausa emphasized the need for ongoing reforms in Nigeria's education system to align learning outcomes with labor market demands, particularly in sectors like clean energy, healthcare, engineering, digital technology, and artificial intelligence.

The collaboration includes joint curriculum design, staff exchange programs, and the establishment of a modern skill development framework. Nigeria will co-host the Global Partnership for Education replenishment campaign alongside Italy during the United Nations General Assembly in September 2026.
