Nigeria Advances Food Systems and Climate Action Initiatives

Nigeria is taking significant steps to strengthen its food systems and align them with climate action to drive sustainable development. During an official dialogue workshop in Abuja, Dr.

Dori Uzoka Anit, the Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, reiterated the importance of evidence-based interventions to improve nutrition, the environment, and livelihoods. The workshop aimed to unite stakeholders to advance food system transformation and empower national efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement targets.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, expressed concerns about climate change's impact on food insecurity, particularly for smallholder farmers.

The program also aims to enhance soil health through specific fertilizer recommendations. Dr.

Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, the Minister of Science and Technology, assured collaboration with state governments and civil society to ensure scientific innovations benefit food security. The workshop was part of Nigeria's Renew Hope Agenda, which emphasizes food security and climate resilience as critical components of the nation's economic growth strategy.
