Nigeria Bids to Host Formula 1 Grand Prix in Abuja, Africa's Return

Nigeria has officially submitted a bid to host the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Abuja, aiming to bring the prestigious event back to Africa for the first time since 1993. The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko, confirmed the bid submission to Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and Formula 1 Management.

The proposed Abuja Grand Prix project has received strong support from the Federal Government and private sector partners. Plans for the circuit aim to position Nigeria as a major player on the global motorsport calendar.
