Nigeria's government has summoned the South African High Commissioner following a resurgence of anti-foreigner protests and targeted attacks on Nigerian citizens. This decision, disclosed by the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa, is set for May 4, 2026, at the High Commission's headquarters in Abuja.

The Nigerian authorities expressed strong displeasure over the recent developments, which threaten the longstanding diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
