Nigeria Launches Digital Postcode Finder and Free Data Scheme

On October 1, Nigeria is implementing two initiatives aimed at addressing delivery challenges and reducing educational data costs. The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has launched a public digital postcode finder that allows users to locate buildings using an 11-character alphanumeric code.
This code can be shared alongside addresses, facilitating deliveries. Users can access the postcode finder without needing an account, and the service includes options to request codes for missing buildings.
Concurrently, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has introduced a free educational-data scheme, providing eligible learners with up to 100MB of daily data for approved educational platforms. This initiative, known as zero-rating, allows access to designated educational traffic without incurring data charges.
The NCC and the Federal Ministry of Education oversee the program, which encourages platforms to minimize advertisements and data consumption. The activation status of the educational allowance for subscribers had not been confirmed at the time of the report.
