Nigeria and China to Discuss Health Security in Abuja

The Nigeria Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare will host a high-level dialogue on health security and pandemic preparedness in Abuja on Monday. The dialogue, titled "Lessons from Pandemic Preparedness," aims to bring together senior government officials, global health institutions, policymakers, and scientists from Nigeria and the People's Republic of China.

This initiative seeks to strengthen preparedness for future health threats in the aftermath of COVID-19. Ado Bako, the Assistant Director of Information Public Relations, stated that the dialogue will provide a platform to share practical lessons and advance cooperation towards resilient health systems.

Key focus areas include strengthening disease surveillance, early warning systems, improving emergency response coordination, enhancing community trust, and advancing international collaboration in pandemic preparedness. Expected outcomes include policy recommendations for strengthening pandemic preparedness and enhancing bilateral collaboration between Nigeria and China in public health research and technology transfer.
