Nigeria and Türkiye Strengthen Livestock Sector Partnership

Nigeria is seeking to deepen its partnership with Türkiye in the livestock sector, as reaffirmed by the Minister of State for Livestock Development, Mukhtar Maiha. During a visit from the Nigerian-Türkiye Business Council (NTBC) in Abuja, Maiha explained that this collaboration aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's initiative to strengthen international partnerships and support modern growth in Nigeria's economy, particularly in livestock development.

The Nigerian livestock sector presents significant investment opportunities across its entire value chain, including feed production, animal health management, dairy development, and meat processing. The Turkish government is expected to assist in critical areas such as red meat production, breed improvement, and vaccine manufacturing.

The chairman of the NTBC, Kelvin Oy, noted that Türkiye's experience in livestock development could provide practical solutions to support Nigeria's reform agenda, despite Türkiye facing its own challenges in building a robust livestock industry.
