Türkiye Targets $5 Billion Trade with Nigeria

Türkiye has set an ambitious target to increase its bilateral trade with Nigeria to $5 billion, significantly up from the current $400 million. This announcement was made by Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mehmet Poroi, during his first official visit outside Abuja to Kaduna.

The visit aimed to engage with the Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA) to unlock untapped trade and investment opportunities, particularly in northern Nigeria. Poroi highlighted the importance of this engagement as part of efforts to translate high-level diplomatic relations into concrete economic outcomes.

Dele Oy, Chairman of the Nigerian-Turkish Business Council, also participated in the discussions, revealing plans to formalize cooperation through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate trade and investment flows, with a specific focus on sectors such as livestock and skill acquisition.
