Nigeria and Tunisia Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Nigeria and Tunisia have committed to enhancing their bilateral relations across key sectors such as trade, education, defense, technology, and tourism. This commitment was made during a meeting in Abuja between Nigerian Foreign Affairs Minister Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu and Tunisian Ambassador Mohsen Antit.

The discussions included revitalizing the Nigeria-Tunisia Joint Commission as a strategic platform to expand cooperation. Ojukwu emphasized the importance of creating practical opportunities for Nigerian and Tunisian entrepreneurs and proposed initiatives to improve air connectivity and establish visa-free travel for diplomatic passport holders.

Additionally, Tunisia offered six fully funded scholarships annually for Nigerian students. The meeting also addressed defense cooperation, with a focus on curbing illicit arms trafficking and the proliferation of small arms from Libya.

Both parties expressed the need to finalize bilateral agreements covering double taxation, defense cooperation, and technology transfer, aiming to strengthen their long-standing partnership.
