Coalition Critiques U.S. Lawmaker's Remarks on Nigeria

The Nigerian American Coalition for Strategic Stability (NACSS) issued a statement on Thursday, criticizing U.S. lawmaker Kimberly Daniels for her remarks advocating the removal of Bello Matawalle. Dr.

Maxwel Akarachi, who convened the coalition, described Daniels' comments as ill-informed and indicative of external influences that threaten Nigeria's sovereignty. The coalition warned that such remarks could distort facts and undermine Nigeria's defense architecture, particularly at a time when coordinated action is essential for national security.

They argued that Nigeria's security challenges, especially in the north-central and north-west regions, stem from structural vulnerabilities and cross-border criminal networks, rather than the actions of a single official. The coalition emphasized the need for a legal institutional framework within Nigeria's security sector and urged international partners to engage constructively rather than adopt accusatory stances.

They concluded by calling on Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to remain vigilant against attempts to delegitimize national institutions.
