Nigeria and WFP Strengthen Partnership for Food Security

Nigeria's Federal Government, represented by Minister Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, has reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the World Food Programme (WFP) to enhance food security and humanitarian assistance in the country. During a meeting in Abuja, Ojukwu commended the WFP for its ongoing support, particularly in saving lives and assisting vulnerable populations affected by humanitarian crises.

The discussions focused on the need for integrated humanitarian assistance and long-term development strategies to boost agricultural production, improve rural livelihoods, and promote economic inclusivity. Katrien Ghoo, representing the WFP, expressed the organization's readiness to deepen cooperation with Nigeria and support its development agenda, particularly in achieving sustainable development goals, including ending hunger and ensuring food security.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen institutional collaboration and mobilize greater international support for food security initiatives in Nigeria.
