Nigerian Youth Essential for Agricultural Revitalization

During a courtesy visit from a United Nations delegation led by Dr. Felip Paullier in Abuja, Sen.

Abubakar Kyari, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, stated that Nigerian youths are crucial for revitalizing the agricultural sector. He noted that the federal government is prioritizing youth involvement in agriculture through financial inclusion and economic opportunities.

Kyari revealed several key government initiatives, including the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), which has a commitment of ₦1.5 trillion, marking the largest agricultural financing in Nigeria's history. This initiative aims to expand access to affordable financing for youth-led agribusinesses.

He also highlighted the government's efforts to procure 2,000 tractors and 9,000 agricultural implements to enhance productivity and create decent employment opportunities for youth in agriculture. The minister acknowledged young innovators shaping agricultural policies and practices, while Dr.

Paullier discussed the establishment of youth offices to advocate for youth-related issues across UN member states.
