Ugbebor Appeals Lagos Court Ruling on Property Dispute

Engin Anthoni Ugbebor, a Nigerian-American, is challenging a judgment from the Lagos State High Court delivered on June 15, 2026, concerning a property development agreement with Oak Home Multin Services Limited. The trial court dismissed Ugbebor's claims, ruling that the parties' subsequent conduct extinguished the original agreement and ordered a refund of 152 million Naira.

Ugbebor's appeal, filed by counsel Nasir Salau and Ibrahim Mahmud, contends that the trial judge misapplied contract law principles, asserting that the original agreement was not replaced by a new contract. He argues that the court incorrectly held him in default of payment timelines and failed to properly evaluate evidence, including unchallenged testimony regarding payments made between November 2017 and December 2020, totaling approximately 400,000 USD.

Ugbebor seeks to have the appellate court set aside the lower court's decision and grant a counterclaim for specific performance of the sale agreement.
