Nigerian Army Enhances Force Structure with New Training

The Nigerian Army has linked its advanced infantry training to the expansion of its force structure, with newly trained soldiers expected to form the core personnel of additional divisions and units to address Nigeria's evolving security challenges. This was stated by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, during the graduation ceremony of Exercise RESTORE HOPE X at the Nigerian Army Training Centre in Kachia, Kaduna State.

Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, noted that the training aims to ensure that force expansion is matched by professional competence and tactical confidence. Lieutenant General Shaibu urged the graduates to uphold professionalism, maintain discipline, and adapt to emerging security threats.

He credited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the Army's restructuring and training needs. Major General Valentine Okoro described Exercise RESTORE HOPE X as essential for post-basic infantry training, focusing on tactical operations and leadership development, thereby linking force expansion to combat effectiveness.
