Nigerian Army Promotes Healthcare and Blood Donation

During the 2026 World Blood Donor Day celebration held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, reaffirmed the army's commitment to supporting healthcare initiatives and voluntary blood donation. The event, organized by the Armed Forces Blood Centre (AFBC), highlighted the critical need for safe blood and blood products.

Colonel AJ Sambo, the Deputy Director of Chaplaincy at the 6 Division, emphasized the significance of World Blood Donor Day as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation. Major AJ Adankala, Director of the Armed Forces Blood Centre, paid tribute to voluntary blood donors, describing them as "selfless individuals" whose contributions save lives.

The theme for this year's celebration, "Drop Human, Give Blood, Save Lives," underscored the need for solidarity in ensuring a sustainable blood supply. The Nigerian Army continues to advocate for increased voluntary blood donation to meet the nation's healthcare needs.
