Nigeria Launches Abia Air Force Base to Enhance Security

The Nigerian Government officially launched the Abia Air Force Base to bolster security in the region. The commissioning ceremony was attended by Defence Minister General Christopher Musa (Rtd), Abia State Governor Alex Otti, and Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke.

General Musa commended the Abia State Government for its investment in critical defense infrastructure, calling the project a model for collaboration between state governments and the Armed Forces. He emphasized that effective national security necessitates the cooperation of the military, various government levels, and citizens.

Musa acknowledged the role of Nigerian Air Force personnel in addressing issues like terrorism and banditry, urging them to maintain professionalism. Governor Otti highlighted security as a fundamental right and expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting the establishment of the Air Force presence in Abia.

Air Marshal Aneke assured that the facility would enhance air power and security coverage in the South-East.
