Nigerian Governor Flags Off Africa’s First Artificial Intelligence University

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Nigeria has launched Africa's first Artificial Intelligence University, Curators University, in Modakeke, Osun state. The institution aims to align with the state's agenda to enhance education and youth empowerment.

The university will offer courses in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Hardware Engineering, Data Analytics, Database Administration, Conflict Resolution, 3D printing, and polymer studies. The governor emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing education, as highlighted by the university's founder, Olusola Amusan.

Additionally, Taiwo Afisi, the deputy academic of Lagos State University, stressed the need for AI education to be grounded in African values and indigenous knowledge to benefit the continent effectively. The initiative is seen as a step towards national development and addressing terrorism concerns in Nigeria.
