Nigerian Govt Launches $950M Makurdi-9th Mile Dualization Project to Transform Southeast Transportation

The Nigerian government has launched the $950 million Makurdi–9th Mile dualization project, a significant infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing transportation and commerce in the Southeast region. The project, covering a 520-kilometer dual carriage highway, is funded by the China Exim Bank and is considered one of the largest road projects under the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.

Minister of Works, Engr Dave Umahi, highlighted the project's importance in stimulating economic activities in Benue and Enugu states. Governor Hyacinth Alia emphasized the project's potential to revolutionize the economy and improve trade connectivity in the region.

The dualization is expected to boost agricultural trade and facilitate the movement of goods between Benue and other regions without significant losses.
