Nigerian Government, World Bank, and NGF Collaborate on Education and Healthcare Reforms

The Nigerian government, in partnership with the World Bank and the Nigeria Governor Forum (NGF), is working on implementing reforms in basic education and primary healthcare across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Dr.

Assad Hassan, leading the program coordination unit, emphasized the critical role of the NGF in ensuring the success of the reforms. The program aims to maximize federal and state funds to improve transparency, monitoring, and accountability in healthcare and education spending.

It also seeks to enhance the coordination between federal and state governments to boost service delivery in these sectors. The initiative will focus on capacity building for civil servants to sustain the reform process.

The NGF Director-General, Dr. Abdulateef Shittu, expressed optimism about the program's potential to drive significant improvements in state governance.

The World Bank team highlighted the opportunity to enhance data utilization and transparency to achieve tangible improvements in school and healthcare facility operations.
