Nigerian Navy Accused of Illegally Occupying Property

Zidougha Bodiseowei Desmond has raised concerns regarding the Nigerian Navy's unlawful occupation of his family's property located at Plot 81 Rose Ada Georg Close, Gra Phase 1, Port Harcourt. This property belonged to his late father, Brigadier General Lawrenc Zidougha, who served in the Nigerian Army until his retirement in 2001 at age 53.

Desmond alleges that the Navy has occupied the property for two decades without compensation. He has held several meetings with naval officials at their headquarters, but no resolution has been reached.

The Navy had promised to pay rent arrears and vacate the property but failed to act. Allegedly, the Navy later sought to acquire the property from the Rivers State Government without engaging Desmond, who possesses relevant documents, including the original purchase agreement from 1989.

A high court in Rivers State ruled in favor of Desmond, ordering the Navy to vacate the property; however, the Navy has reportedly refused to comply with this judgment.
