Nigerian Navy Arrests Eight for Illegal Fuel in Rivers

The Nigerian Navy successfully intercepted 44,000 liters of suspected illegally refined automotive gas oil and arrested eight suspects during an operation in Rivers State. This operation was conducted by the ship NN Pathfinder, which was deployed as part of the anti-crude oil theft patrol team.

The operation took place in the Degema, Ogbogoro, and Ogbologo general area, following credible intelligence regarding ongoing illicit activities. During the operation, two wooden boats laden with the illegal product were intercepted, and eight suspects were apprehended, while others fled upon sighting the naval patrol team.

The arrested suspects are currently in custody and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution. This operation aligns with the directives of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral I.
