Nigerian Navy Intercepts 44,000 Liters of Illegal Oil

The Nigerian Navy conducted an operation in Rivers State, where they intercepted two wooden boats laden with 44,000 liters of suspected illegally refined petroleum products. This operation led to the arrest of eight suspects linked to illegal activities, while accomplices fled the scene.

The operation was carried out by the Navy's Delta Sentinel personnel, under the direction of Commodore Abiodun Folorunsho. The seized products are currently in custody and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.

This operation is part of a broader initiative mandated by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abba, to intensify efforts against crude oil theft and maritime crime. The Navy reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Nigeria's maritime domain and protecting critical national assets through enhanced inter-agency collaboration and intelligence-driven operations.
