Nigerian Navy Seizes 1,600 Litres of Illegal Diesel

The Nigerian Navy successfully recovered 1,600 litres of illegally refined diesel in Rivers State. This operation was disclosed by Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Director of Naval Information, in a statement made on Sunday in Abuja.

The recovery occurred during an operation conducted by the Delta Sentinel personnel aboard the Nigerian Navy ship NN Soroh, following intelligence on illegal refining activities. The operation took place in the Okolomad Community within the Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers, near the border with Bayelsa State.

An anti-crude oil theft team deployed to the Orashi forest area utilized aerial surveillance with unmanned systems, leading to the discovery of 16 sacks containing the illicit product. The suspects involved fled upon sighting naval personnel.

The recovered items were handled in accordance with operational procedures, underscoring the Navy's commitment to dismantling illegal refining networks and curbing crude oil theft in the Niger Delta, emphasizing that there is no safe haven for economic saboteurs operating across the nation's waterways and creeks.
