Troops Seize Illegal Refining Site in Rivers State

On May 12, 2023, troops from the Combat Infantry Brigade, part of the Troop Joint Task Force, conducted an operation in the Ebocha Community of Rivers State, specifically in the Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Area. During this operation, they discovered an illegal refining site containing approximately 750 liters of suspected crude oil and about 2,000 liters of refined automotive gas oil (AGO).

Additionally, the troops recovered two local boats believed to be used for illegal bunkering activities. This operation was part of the ongoing Delta Safe initiative aimed at curbing crude oil theft and illegal refining, which has been a significant issue affecting the Niger Delta region.

The operation reflects the security agencies' sustained efforts to clear illegal refining camps and protect critical national assets while boosting crude oil production.
