Nigeria's Imports from China Reach N11.01 Trillion in 2026

In the first half of 2026, Nigeria imported goods valued at N11.01 trillion from China, which constituted nearly 40% of the country's total imports. This figure represents an increase from N5.10 trillion in the first quarter to N5.92 trillion in the second quarter.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has expressed growing concerns regarding counterfeit networks associated with Chinese imports. Additionally, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has challenged the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Peter Obi, over his assertion that he won the 2023 presidential election and will only concede in 2027 if the election is deemed credible.
