Kayode Aims for Italy National Team Amid Nigerian Roots

Michael Kayode, a right-back for Brentford FC, has expressed his desire to play for the Italian senior national team in the future, despite his Nigerian heritage. Born in Borgomanero, Italy, to Nigerian parents Victoria and Anthony, Kayode has represented Italy at the U18, U19, and U21 levels.

He acknowledged the strong position of the Italian Football Federation compared to Nigeria and is determined to maintain good form at Brentford to secure a spot in the senior team. His first opportunity to earn a senior cap may come when Italy faces Northern Ireland in the 2026 World Cup playoff next month.

Kayode emphasized the importance of performing well at his club, stating that every player dreams of representing their national team, especially when qualifying for the World Cup. He also mentioned that the Nigerian people are happy for him as he pursues this opportunity.
