Buffon Advocates for Kayode's Italy National Team Call-Up

Gianluigi Buffon, the legendary Italian goalkeeper and part of Italy's 2006 FIFA World Cup-winning team, has urged the national team to consider Michael Kayode for a call-up. The 21-year-old defender has made 28 appearances for Brentford FC in the Premier League during the 2025-26 season, showcasing strong performances as a right back and right wing back.

Born in Borgomanero, Italy, to Nigerian parents, Kayode is eligible to represent both the Italian national team and Nigeria at the senior level, having previously played for Italy's U-18, U-19, and U-21 teams. Despite not yet receiving a senior squad call-up, Kayode is focused on his club performance, stating that every player dreams of representing their national team, especially in World Cup qualifiers.
