Nigerian Pilgrims Prepare for 1447 AH Hajj in Saudi Arabia

Nigerian pilgrims are set to form one of the largest contingents at the 1447 AH Hajj, with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) allocating a total of 50,000 slots for the pilgrimage. This includes 9,750 slots designated for licensed tour operators and 15,397 slots reserved for state pilgrim officials.

The Hajj is scheduled to commence on May 25, 2026, corresponding to 8 Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH, with the climax occurring on Arafat Day, May 26, 2026. NAHCON has prioritized the health and welfare of pilgrims, urging them to stay hydrated and conserve energy due to the rigorous nature of the Hajj.

New regulations have been introduced, including digital ticketing and strict medical screenings, in response to ongoing regional conflicts that raise safety concerns. The commission aims to avoid logistical issues that affected previous years by ensuring real-time updates and compliance checks.
