Ighalo Disappointed Over Nigeria's World Cup Qualification Fail

Odion Ighalo, a striker for the Super Eagles, voiced his disappointment regarding Nigeria's failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He lamented that the current crop of players, including top talents like Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Samuel Chukwueze, will miss the opportunity to showcase their skills on such a prestigious platform.

Nigeria's national team missed automatic qualification during the qualifying series and failed to secure a place via the African playoffs, losing the intercontinental playoff spot to DR Congo. Ighalo, speaking on Brila FM, expressed concern that these players, who have excelled in their club careers, deserve to participate in the World Cup.

He reflected on his own experience in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where Nigeria exited in the group stage, and emphasized the emotional impact of missing out on the tournament, particularly for young players who aspire to represent their country.
