Nigerian Scholar Elvis Otobo Joins ARA Board in UK

Elvis Otobo, a Nigerian scholar, has been elected as a director of the Archives and Records Association (ARA) in the UK and Ireland. This organization represents approximately 2,000 archivists and record managers across the United Kingdom and Ireland.

His election is a recognition of his commitment to the profession, which he has demonstrated through his extensive academic and professional background. Professor Otobo holds dual master's degrees: one in Archives and Records Management from the University of Ibadan and another in Heritage Theory and Practice from the University of Plymouth, UK.

He also earned a PhD in Information Resource Management from Babcock University. Throughout his career, he has significantly strengthened record management practices across various sectors, including academia and heritage institutions.

As a director, he will support ARA's strategic priorities, champion professional development, and advocate for the sector, ensuring that archives continue to serve as vital assets for public accountability and cultural memory.
