Nigerian Socialite Denies Involvement in $2.5M Romance Scam Allegations

Nigerian socialite Nzube Ikeji, also known as Henri Nzubechukwu, has refuted accusations of orchestrating a $2.5 million romance scam. The scam allegedly targeted a Romanian businesswoman named Laura, involving impersonation of a Dubai crown prince.

Ikeji's denial comes after a high-profile investigative documentary titled "Track Fake Princ Scammer" by OCCRP revealed details of the elaborate online scheme. The report suggests that Ikeji and a 24-year-old man were arrested in connection with the scam, which purportedly drained funds from the victim.

Ikeji's family and close associates have distanced themselves from the allegations, portraying them as a reputational attack. The socialite's response, shared in a video on Nigerian social media, has sparked mixed reactions among netizens, with some finding his defense unconvincing and others calling for legal action.

The scam allegedly began around three years ago and involved a complex online strategy to deceive the victim.
