Nigerian Teen with Autism Sets Sights on Second Guinness World Record Cycling Expedition

Kanyechukwu Tagbo Okek, a 16-year-old autistic artist and Guinness World Record holder, is gearing up for a second cycling expedition dubbed "RideWithKany" to raise autism awareness. The initiative, in collaboration with the Kanyechukwu Autism Society Foundation, Lagos State Government, and the National Sports Commission (NSC), aims to challenge myths surrounding autism.

The expedition will start in Enugu and end in Lagos on World Autism Awareness Day, April 2, 2026. The Lagos State Government has pledged full support for the historic Guinness World Record attempt, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and resilience.

The event will feature stops in Enugu, Anambra, Delta, Ogun, and Lagos, with activities including autism awareness campaigns, free medical consultations, and youth-focused sports and cultural engagements. The expedition will also raise funds to train 1,000 caregivers in Nigeria to support autistic children and adolescents.

The campaign seeks to turn awareness into action and promote acceptance and understanding of autistic individuals nationwide.
