Peter Obi Blames Corruption for Nigeria's Poverty Crisis

On Thursday, Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party and ex-governor of Anambra State, addressed the issue of poverty in Nigeria during an event in Abuja where he received members of the Association of Skill Vocational Artisans Nigeria. Obi attributed the country's widespread poverty to corrupt leadership and the celebration of corrupt public officials.

He noted that despite Nigeria's vast natural and human resources, poor leadership and misplaced priorities have kept millions in hardship. Obi emphasized that corruption is one of the biggest obstacles to economic progress and highlighted the need for urgent attention to the education and healthcare sectors.

He called for a cultural shift away from honoring corrupt politicians and urged citizens to actively participate in the democratic process to elect good leaders. Obi also stressed the importance of small and medium enterprises in driving economic growth and called for improved infrastructure and access to funding for businesses.
