ADC Critiques Nigeria's GDP Growth Amid Economic Hardship

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) issued a statement on Wednesday, criticizing the Nigerian government for celebrating economic growth figures, specifically the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) report. Bolaji Abdullahi, the party's national publicity secretary, argued that these statistics are disconnected from the economic hardships faced by ordinary citizens.

The ADC emphasized that Nigerians cannot "eat GDP," highlighting that economic growth does not equate to real relief in terms of lower food prices, job creation, or improved purchasing power. The party pointed out that millions of Nigerians continue to grapple with rising inflation, unemployment, and increasing costs of doing business.

The ADC accused the government of prioritizing economic narratives over practical solutions to improve living conditions. They called for a shift in policy focus towards stabilizing prices, supporting businesses, and creating jobs to restore the economic dignity of citizens.

The ADC maintained that until economic growth reflects improvements in living standards, claims of success remain disconnected from reality.
