Nigerians Deported to Ghana Sue US Government Over Inhuman Treatment

Three Nigerians and two Gambians deported from the United States to Ghana have sued the US government in Washington DC for alleged inhuman treatment during deportation. The lawsuit, filed in the US District Court for the District of Columbia, claims the deportees were shackled, fed only bread and water, and flown on a military cargo plane in violation of their due process rights.

The plaintiffs argue that the deportation disregarded an immigration court order preventing their return to their home countries. They accuse the US government of using Ghana to carry out the deportation.

The case seeks justice for the mistreatment suffered.
