Nigerians in UK Rally to Repatriate Slain Student's Remains

Nigerians in the UK are seeking financial assistance to repatriate the remains of Uchenna Okiri, a Nigerian student who was fatally stabbed in November 2025. Okiri, a 27-year-old student at the University of East Anglia, was allegedly murdered under shocking circumstances.

Benjamin Katabana, a Congolese national, has been charged in connection with the killing. The Nigerian community in Norwich has initiated a GoFundMe campaign titled "Rest in Peace Uch" to raise funds for Okiri's repatriation and funeral arrangements.

Okiri, described as a compassionate and selfless individual, had been actively involved in supporting international students and had a positive impact on those around him. The fundraising appeal aims to transport Okiri's body to Nigeria and support the necessary funeral arrangements since he had no immediate family in the UK.

The campaign has garnered support from donors to help give Okiri a deserving farewell.
