Nigeria’s Ambassador Supports Falconets Ahead of China Clash

Ahead of the Falconets' match against China in the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, Nigeria’s Ambassador to Poland, Margareta Mary Obi, has urged the team to move past their opening match defeat to Spain. The Falconets will play at Stadion Sosnowiec in a must-win encounter against China, who are currently leading Group F after a 5-0 victory over New Caledonia.

Ambassador Obi, who supported the team during their match against Spain, interacted with players and the technical crew post-game, providing encouragement and bringing Nigerian food to lift their spirits. Coach Moses Aduku stated that the team is focused on the upcoming match against China, aiming to come back stronger.

Historically, Nigeria and China have faced each other twice in FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finals, with China winning 3-0 in 2006 and a 1-1 draw in 2018, which allowed Nigeria to progress to the quarterfinals.
