Nigeria's Food and Beverage Imports Surge by N553 Billion in Nine Months

Nigeria's food and beverage imports increased by N553.22 billion in the first nine months of 2025, as per the National Bureau of Statistics. The total import bill rose to N5.27 trillion, showing an 11.74% year-on-year growth.

Primary food imports, including processed and raw food items, contributed significantly to the overall rise. Import of primary food items for manufacturing and household consumption saw substantial growth, reflecting increased demand.

Quarterly data indicated a strengthening import trend throughout 2025, with significant growth observed in the second and third quarters.
