Jonathan Advocates for Strong Institutions in Nigeria

Former President Goodluck Jonathan addressed the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) during the opening ceremony of the NBA Yenagoa branch's 2026 Law Week in Bayelsa State. He stated that Nigeria's future relies on the strength of its institutions and the impartiality of its judiciary.

Jonathan urged legal practitioners to uphold the principles of justice and to fairly discharge their duties, describing them as custodians of the nation's legal system. He highlighted that the country's progress is tied to the ability of institutions to function independently and effectively.

Jonathan also pointed out that Nigeria's security and future depend on the rule of law prevailing over individual power and influence. He called for thoughtful reforms in the post-colonial education system to address contemporary global challenges, asserting that sustainable national development requires strong institutions that ensure equal protection under the law for all citizens.
