Nigeria's Gas Production Surges by 8% in 2025, NUPRC Report Reveals Shift in Production Structure

Nigeria's gas production witnessed an 8% increase in 2025, totaling 2.706 trillion standard cubic feet, as reported by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). This marked a significant improvement from the 2.508 trillion scf recorded in 2024.

The report highlighted a rise in gas output alongside an increase in gas flare, climbing from 192.9 billion scf in 2024 to 204.0 billion scf in 2025. Notably, there was a shift in Nigeria's gas production structure, with associated gas accounting for 1.456 trillion scf and non-associated gas jumping to 1.250 trillion scf in 2025.

Gas utilization also saw an 8.1% increase, reaching 2.500 trillion scf in 2025. The report emphasized the challenges in fully monetizing the increased gas supply, as reflected in the rise in gas flare volumes.
