NNPC Revamps Gas Master Plan to Surpass Production Targets by 2027

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has adjusted the 2008 Gas Master Plan to tap into Nigeria's significant gas reserves. NNPC's CEO, Bayo Ojulari, commits to surpassing President Bola Tinubu's directive of achieving a 10 billion cubic feet per day gas production target by 2027.

The revised plan, known as NGMP 2026, aims to catalyze $60 billion in new investments across the oil and gas value chain by 2030. Ojulari emphasizes a collaborative and investor-centric approach to implement the plan, focusing on cost optimization, operational excellence, and resource strengthening.

The initiative aligns with Nigeria's energy transition agenda and seeks to position the country as a global gas hub. Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ekpen Ekpo, lauds the plan's emphasis on reliable gas supply, infrastructure expansion, and market flexibility.

Adegbit Falade of the Independent Petroleum Producer Group (IPPG) highlights the plan's potential to boost the economy and enhance energy security.
