Nigeria's Gas Output Surges 8% to 2.706 Trillion scf in 2025, Flaring Increases: Report

Nigeria's gas output surged by nearly 8% to 2.706 trillion standard cubic feet in 2025, as per the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). The report highlighted a steady growth in both associated and non-associated gas production, with associated gas rising to 1.456 trillion scf and non-associated gas increasing to 1.250 trillion scf.

Despite a rise in gas utilization to 92.4% in 2025, gas flaring also increased by 5.8%, reaching 204.0 billion scf. The data indicates a gradual expansion in Nigeria's gas sector, driven by dedicated gas development efforts.

The government's gas initiatives, including the decade-long gas program from 2021 to 2030, aim to further boost gas production and utilization in the country.
