Nigeria's Gas Production Reaches 7.93 Bcf/d in May 2026

According to a report from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Nigeria's gas production rose to 7.93 billion standard cubic feet per day in May 2026, marking a 0.63% increase from 7.88 billion standard cubic feet per day in the same period in 2025. The breakdown indicates that associated gas accounted for 3.96 billion standard cubic feet per day, while non-associated gas contributed 3.98 billion standard cubic feet per day.

Domestic sales increased to 2.18 billion cubic feet per day, representing 26.6% of total gas utilization. This rise reflects ongoing efforts to meet local supply obligations, particularly in the power and manufacturing sectors.

The report also noted that Nigeria utilized 92% of its natural gas production in the first four months of 2026, with a total production of 947.78 billion standard cubic feet during that period. The country aims to end routine gas flaring by 2030, with current flaring levels at 6.1%.
