Nigeria’s Home-based Super Eagles Bow Out Of CHAN 2024 With Pride

Nigeria's Home-based Super Eagles were eliminated from the CHAN 2024 tournament with pride after a 2-0 loss to Sudan. Despite already being out of the competition, the Super Eagles put on a convincing performance with goals from Anas Yusuf and Sikiru Alimi.

The intent to leave Tanzania with pride was clear from the onset, with Yusuf scoring in the first minute. Alimi sealed the victory in the 93rd minute.

The win moved Nigeria to third in Group A, behind Sudan and Senegal who advanced after a goalless draw. The result showed signs of progress for coach Eric Chelle's side after a sluggish start.

The team, made up entirely of NPFL club players, will now return to domestic duty as the season begins on Friday. Chelle will now shift his focus back to the senior Super Eagles who face Rwanda and South Africa in World Cup qualifiers in September.
