Nigeria's Ports Witness 1,085% Surge in Export Containers, Marking Historic Milestone

Nigeria's ports have seen a remarkable 1,085% increase in export containers during the third quarter of 2025, reflecting unprecedented growth in the maritime sector. The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) announced this surge, with total cargo throughput rising to 33.52 million metric tons.

The increase in trade activities across Nigerian ports, particularly in container operations, has significantly contributed to this performance. Notably, there has been a rise in vessel calls, gross registered tonnage, and handling of larger vessels, indicating a positive trend in port operations and efficiency.
