Nigeria's Power Supply Plunges Below 4,000MW Amid Oil Workers' Strike Crisis

Nigeria's power generation dropped below 4,000MW as oil and gas workers from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) entered a second day of strike action. The strike, affecting operations at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, has led to worsening power supply across the country.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria reported a decrease in available generation, causing distribution companies in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt to implement load shedding measures. Talks between the Federal Government and PENGASSAN have so far failed to reach an agreement, leaving the energy sector in a precarious state.

The national grid faces strain, and businesses and households are at risk of prolonged blackouts unless a resolution is reached soon.
