PENGASSAN Shuts Oil Agencies, Sparks Nationwide Power Supply Concerns

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) closed down major oil and gas regulatory agencies in Nigeria, protesting the alleged sacking of hundreds of workers at Dangote Refinery. The affected agencies include the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, Nigerian Midstream Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, and Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.

This action left staff stranded and impacted electricity supply nationwide. PENGASSAN condemned the refinery's decision to terminate 800 workers, describing it as an attack on labor rights.

The protest has raised concerns about fuel supply stability and exacerbated electricity shortages in Nigeria.
